Crawfish, Beignets and King Cake – Oh My!

It is Mardi Gras season y’all! What better way to celebrate the annual bead throwing, hurricane drinking and beignet frying season than at Universal Studios Orlando! Okay, so this year there might not be any concerts, however the food and atmosphere completely make you feel as though you are walking down Bourbon Street – beads and all.

Now here is the kicker, there are cultural food booths throughout the park, so come hungry. The best way to taste all that you want is with the 2021 Tasting Lanyard! This year there are two options, one of which is exclusive to passholders. We will give you the ins and outs of the lanyard as well as what to use it for and maybe what not to.

The basic Tasting Lanyard costs $55.00 + tax for guests who are not Annual Passholders and provides 10 food credits. Each item will be priced at approximately $5.50, so if you find something that you are interested in trying that is a little cheaper, you might want to purchase out of pocket rather than use your lanyard. Plus, passholders get 10% off food items (no alcohol).  Exclusive to Annual Passholders, there is a 15-dining credit lanyard that the costs $65.00 + tax. With this lanyard each item costs approximately $4.33 so again, if you find an item cheaper than $4.33, consider purchasing out of pocket. The lanyard can be used for all tasting-size food and beverage items (including alcohol) and is sold pretty much everywhere throughout the park as well as a few locations in City Walk. A big FYI – the tasting lanyard cannot be used for snacks in the Tribute Store (but your passholder discount works).

Do not feel stressed if you do not finish your tasting credits, the lanyard never expires. If you do not use all of your redemptions during the festival, you can still use the lanyard for soft pretzels, regular popcorn, and bottled water throughout Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Island of Adventure, Universal’s Volcano Bay, and Universal CityWalk anytime during regular park hours after the festival ends. Lanyards will only be sold through March 28th. Use all your credits up? You can reload your lanyard or purchase a new one.

Here’s a little hint – it might be beneficial for you to take a look at the menus before arriving if you want to get the most out of your lanyard. Now go have fun! Laissez le bon temps rouler.
