“The wand chooses the wizard.” Calling all the wizards and witches out there, there is a wand waiting at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort with your name on it. Listen, don’t give us that “I’m too old” spiel, it will not work and frankly, you are missing out. See here is the thing, we are new to the whole Harry Potter excitement, only watched the movies once new. And yes, we know that “the books are better”, so no need to tell us, we may or may not join in on the whole book series. Now, back to the point, new to Harry Potter or old, young, or young at heart, playing with an interactive wand is ridiculously fun. Muggles playing with wands, what could be better?
Our last visit to Universal Studios Orlando, we participated in the wand experience at Olivander’s Wand Shop. It was unbelievable. Now, we are not going to give too much away, but a reservation is needed to participate. We made ours the day of and had an hour wait. Just enough time to grab an ice cream at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor and a pumpkin juice.
Make sure to arrive at your reservation time approximately 5-10 minutes early. Once checked in, you will be escorted into the wand shop, for a truly magical experience. Here is were we skip all the details experience and tell you that whatever wand chooses you, you can purchase that wand or pick another wand that you would prefer. If you have multiple members in your party who want to have a wand choose them, you will need to make multiple reservations as only one wizard or witch is chosen per experience.
After, your interactive wand is ready to perform magic with the proper swish and flick and spells (don’t worry, you’ll be given a spell map). Here is a little tip, take turns casting spells during your journey, so that when you return you can switch up the spots and continue the fun. You know, “in dreams we enter a world that is entirely our own”.
