Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street U.S.A – Disneyland®

For any Disney fan, there is nothing quite like walking down the same streets that Walt Disney himself walked. Main Street U.S.A was inspired by the town that Walt Disney grew up in, Marceline Missouri. We had the privilege of going on the Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps tour which was absolutely amazing and we highly recommend. One of the best parts of the tour was being able to step inside the Disney family apartment above the Fire Station. There is truly a magical feel in the air as soon as you step foot on Main Street U.S.A in the original Disney park. Let’s take a look at all of the fun and excitement you can experience here.

Disneyland® Railroad

Before entering the park it is impossible to miss the Main Street U.S.A station. This is one of 17 opening day attractions that are currently still in operation. If you are not in a hurry we suggest taking the train all the way around the park. There are stops at the following stations: New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, Tomorrowland, and Main Street U.SA.

Windows

Make sure to look up at all the windows lining the street. Important and influential people are honored by having their name on windows all along Main Street U.S.A. What a unique and special way to honor those who helped make Disneyland® what it is.

Main Street U.S.A Vehicles

A fun way to get down Main Street U.S.A is to take one of the vehicles that offer one way transportation from Main Street U.S.A to in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. You can chose from a Fire Engine, Horse-drawn Streetcar, Horseless Carriage, and our favorite the Omnibus (definitely try to grab a seat on the top deck). Taking one of these classic vehicles is a great vantage point for a unique view of Main Street U.S.A.

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln

For all the Disney trivia fans out there, where did this attraction first appear? If you guessed the 1964 New York World’s Fair, then you are right! Walt Disney always was found of Mr. Lincoln and that was most evident in the hours of work that were dedicated to this attraction. While most of the time the Opera House features Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, there are some other special features that temporarily take its place. For example currently until May 27th, you will see a preview of the exciting live action adaptation of Aladdin. In addition the lobby of the Opera House known as the Disney Gallery also currently is displaying artwork and costumes from Aladdin.

Main Street Cinema

Here you can see some true Disney classic cartoons. This attraction was also an opening day original. You can see the following cartoons: Plane Crazy, Mickey’s Polo Team, The Moose Hunt, Traffic Troubles,The Dognapper and Steamboat Willie. What would be more fun than seeing the original Mickey Mouse movie in the original Disney theme park?

Dining

The Plaza Inn – table service restaurant featuring a character breakfast buffet (Minnie and Friends). Lunch and dinner offerings include chicken, pasta, salmon, pot roast, and salads. Fun fact: Lillian Disney (Walt’s wife) handpicked many of the decor items in the restaurant!

Carnation Cafe – table service restaurant featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner. This restaurant serves up traditional American fare.

Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe – Mary Poppins themed quick service location

Little Red Wagon – If you love corn dogs, this is your spot!

Refreshment Corner Cafe – A lot of people refer to this at Coke corner. Here you will find chili dogs, pretzels and soda. You can also listen to live piano music here!

Market House – In the last several years the demand for Starbucks has prompted a Starbucks location at nearly every Disney park. Market house is where you can get your Starbucks fix along with some bakery items. While we love Starbucks, when we are in a Disney park we prefer the exclusive coffee of Disney, Joffrey’s!

Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor – get a cone, sundae or float and take in the nostalgia of an old-fashioned ice cream shop
