Have you ever wondered where the phrase “I’m going to Disney World!” started? As we already know, the phrase that we have come to know and love has become a staple of the Super Bowl celebration. Within in a few hours, the Super Bowl MVP is whisked away to Walt Disney World or sometimes even Disneyland. This leads to a celebratory parade down Main Street, with confetti, characters and photo opportunities and a cheerful energy that engulfs the the Magic Kingdom even more than a typical magical day.
Jane Eisner, the wife of former CEO Michael Eisner is actually the brainchild of the slogan. During a dinner party with George Lucas and Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager, Mr. Eisner asked Dick and Jeana what they could possibly do next after their accomplishment of flying around the world nonstop. Dick responded – “I’m going to Disneyland!” And later that month in 1987, Phil Simms became the first MVP to state that he’s going to Disney World. Since then, every Super Bowl MVP has had the same post-season vacation plan.
So this year, it’s safe to say that we are a little bit excited that our very own Quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles Nick Foles uttered these special words! Still cannot believe we are Super Bowl Champions!!!
