In honor of the Tony Awards this past weekend, our blog post is going to focus on the amazing live shows that the Disney Cruise Line offers. Disney has a long history of iconic Broadway shows. Each of the Disney Cruise Line ships offer has their own signature live show. The Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream are home to 1,340 seat capacity theaters. The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder offer 977 seat capacity theaters. The live productions have 2 performances each evening. While there are many different live show aboard each ship, we are going to talk about the signature show for each.
Disney Dream: Beauty and the Beast – Beginning November 6th, 2017 the production of Beauty and the Beast will begin. With the recent release of the live-action Beauty and the Beast, which was an amazing adaptation of the classic story we all love, we can only imagine the creativity and innovation that will go into the on stage production. In addition to the hit songs from the classic movie; the production will also feature 2 new musical numbers written by Alan Menken and Tim Rice from the new live-action film. Innovative puppetry, cutting-edge theatrical design, and breakthrough story-telling techniques will make this a show that you will definitely want to see!
Disney Fantasy: Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular- If you have had the chance to see Aladdin on Broadway, then you have a taste for what an amazing show a live adapted production of Aladdin can be. The innovation that a Disney offers is evident in this production that has scenes that take place above the audience and in the aisles of the theater. The classic boy meets girl story is blended with the comedic side of the Genie to offer the audience a truly spectacular performance. Re-imagined classic songs along with songs mixed with new songs unique to this production make this a must see show!
Disney Wonder: Frozen, A Musical Spectacular – In the words of Olaf “Put ’em together, it just makes sense!” There are so many loved songs from the hit movie that are blended together with the talents and magic of the live production capabilities of Disney. A live Frozen show does just make sense. In fact, Frozen the Broadway Musical is set to join Aladdin and Lion King on Broadway in the spring of 2018. Seeing a live production of Frozen will transport you to Arendelle where you can relive the story of Elsa and Anna.
Disney Magic: Tangled: The Musical- Immerse yourself into the timeless tale of Rapunzel. Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and Grammy Award-winning lyricist Glenn Slater have collaborated together to create 3 unique songs for this production. Added to the classic story are a few twists that were added to make this a one of a kind show. With elaborate costumes, ground-breaking puppetry, and absolutely stunning set designs this is a spectacular and masterful show.
